What should I wear to my maternity photo session?

What you wear to your maternity photo session will largely depend on the style of maternity photos you are looking for as well as your level of personal comfort.

We accomplish maternity photos for a variety of women and couples.  Some people are interested in very artistic, nude or semi-nude portrayals of their pregnancy.  The goal with most maternity photos is to capture that time when a woman's body progresses through the remarkable and beautiful changes inherent of carrying a child. Others take a more conservative approach and wish to be fully or partially clothed. It is common for a mixture of those styles to be utilized.

No matter what style you would like, you will need to wear clothing that will show off your beautiful belly.  Stretch pants or pants with low waistlines will prevent them from bunching up too much when lowered to show your tummy.  Lingerie,  robes, undergarments, button down shirts, blankets can all be used to produce beautiful maternity photos.

Should I do my maternity portraits alone or with my partner?

That is completely up to you. You may also bring mum or friends... anyone you like for moral support.  If you are comfortable having them there during your session, then by all means, bring them along.

When is the best time to have my maternity photos done?

The further along, the better.  We want you to be at the peak of your physical development, and typically two weeks before your due date is optimal.  That seems to be the best compromise between peak development and feeling uncomfortable. However I do suggest if having just the one set done then after 30 weeks. Other than that if your having two shoots of Bump done, I suggest one around 25 weeks and one around 10 weeks later.

What can I do about stretch marks, scars, etc?

Not a problem.  We can retouch your maternity photos when you order prints.  If you have any specific concerns, simply let us know.

What do people buy and what do they do with their pictures?

People get two types of photos; one that they can share with their friends and family (usually fully clothed) and another set that they can enjoy in private (the nudes).

Do you photograph newborns?

Yes! This is why we do the “Bumps to Babies” Package!!!, You can book them separately or together.

Do you offer gift certificates?

I offer gift certificates for full and partial portrait sessions.

How Soon should I book my shoot?

This depends on where you are in your pregnancy. Booking in advance usually works well, especially if you are wanting a studio or weekend session. If you are in the last weeks of your pregnancy, it is a good idea to book an at home pregnancy shoot.
For newborn babies, I suggest provisionally booking your appointment from 7-10 days from the date you are due to give birth there is nothing to worry about except a phone call to arrange a day and a time. Newborn shoot will be prioritized.

What if my baby or child doesn't co-operate and you don’t get any good pictures?

I have to date not had one unsuccessful photo session. I always get the shot, even with a crying baby or unhappy toddler. I might just have to try a bit longer. I have never had to re-schedule a shoot or had clients who complained that their child did not look happy on a single picture.
