Ocassions & Events
We can also shoot charity events. In March 2010 we covered A Charity Zumba Event in aid of Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice and CLIC Sargent. You can see some of the images from this special day in the archive section of our galleries.
How long after the event does it take for photos to appear on the online Event Gallery?
This will depend on the duration of the event and the distance
travelled. I know that you covered an even I've attended, but I can't seem to find a photo of myself or my friend, Why?
This could be for several reasons … Why do the gallery images look slightly burred or out of focus? All gallery photos are low resolution copies of the original image that your photograph will be printed from. The copying process loses some of the definition. This low resolution copying process is deliberately done to minimize file size, and therefore, web page download times. These photo images often appear to be slightly out of focus even though the original they were created from is not. If we were to provide high resolution preview photos the web pages would take a lot longer to download making the process of finding your photo a lot more time consuming. I have seen a photo I like, can it be cropped before printing?
Yes. All photos are cropped if they feel it is appropriate for
a better composition before shipping. Can I change my order once it has been submitted? No, as we start processing images immediately after your order is recieved. How Much do you charge to cover an event? A lot depends on the event being covered. Please contact regarding the event and we can do a bespoke quotation for you. How do we book you?
Via Email, Telephone or online enquiry
What goes into calculating your prices?
Just because the camera has been put away doesn’t mean that our job
is done, we’ve still got more work to do. We spend time editing and
retouching any photographs that may need it, packaging them for
prints and delivering proofs on-line or by mail. Finally is the cost
of the reproduction of the prints and the assembly of albums
themselves.
We strive to take the best pictures possible, but occasionally
things happen that are beyond our control. For instance, in an
outdoor shoot sometimes “nature gets in the way” and something
distracting is in the picture. Sometimes it is just a matter of
cropping photographs. We like to leave room on the sides and the top
so the pictures can be cropped to size for larger photographs
without cutting into the focal point of the photograph.
We take all kinds of photographs ranging from Weddings to Social events [anything from conventions to parties]. Basically we photograph whatever our customers would like us to. How far will you travel? We're happy to travel to sessions nationwide (or even abroad if need be). We're based in Barnsley, South Yorkshire and any sessions within 25 miles of us don't incur any travel fee. Sessions beyond 25 miles incur a travel fee of £0.50p per mile for the first 150 miles of a return trip and £0.16p per mile for anything over that. Subject to that, and to the payment of expenses if air travel or an overnight stay is required, we're happy to come to you wherever you are. Do you provide both colour and black & white photos?
Yes. We use Nikon DSLR cameras which take colour digital images.
However, when we work on them after the session some of those images
will strike us as being better in black & white whilst others will
work better as colour. Typically you'll get a 60/40 split between
colour and black & white images from a session to choose from on
your gallery. But (and this is a good but), because we use digital
photography, all images are available in both colour and black &
white, so if we've shown you an image in black & white, say, but
you'd rather have it in colour, that's absolutely fine - just let us
know. Do you offer gift vouchers?
Yes, we do. In any denomination and for any Blue Lights Photography
services, which means they can be redeemed against the session fee,
travel fee, or the cost of prints or other merchandise. You just
tell us how much you want to spend and we'll let you have a voucher
to cover it. Vouchers must be redeemed within six months. Do I have to buy prints?
Not at all. If you want to
buy prints or any other merchandise at that point (and we think you
will), great. There's no hard sell. Am I likely to see my photos on your website? Possibly. Copyright in all images shot by Blue Lights Photography remains with us. That means two things: firstly, you cannot use any of the images you buy from us for any commercial purposes without our permission, and secondly, we retain the right to use the images for self promotion, editorial or commercial use. We do recognise, however, that you may consider certain images to be so personal that you would prefer us not to use them. If that's the case then please let us know as soon as possible after the session and we'll do our best to ensure they're not used. How will a Charity benefit from your services? We will contribute 10% of our net proceeds from your event to your chosen charity. We require that you publicize our services on your WEB site or event literature to benefit from these contributions. How can I publicise Blue Lights Photography on our website for an upcoming event?
We have provided logos and text that we encourage you to include in
your WEB site to make participants aware of our services.
What Photo quality can I expect? Our photos range in quality from 1300x2000 pixels at 300dpi and 24bit colour resolution. These qualities are suitable to produce a stunning 5x7, 8x10, 16x20 or even 20x30 inch photos and posters.
